As a child, I always gravitated towards food. I grew up in a Jewish household where all of the gatherings were centered around the kitchen. I saw the special spark of how food brought people together; from then I was hooked! I always dreamed of becoming an artist, and from a young age, decided that food was going to be my medium.

I jumped into the food industry at the age of 15 and started working in restaurants. Shortly after, I headed to the "CIA" The Culinary Institute of America in New York to study my passion. Upon graduating, I accepted a job in upstate NY with a catering company in a holistic retreat center. As I gained industry experience, I felt like I was missing something. I decided to pack my bags and travel to expand both my horizons and my palate. Through my journey, my philosophy about food, life, and what kind of person I aspire to be has evolved. It has opened my eyes to a whole new vision of food as a celebration of life and culture.

When I came back, I decided to start anew, this time in San Francisco. I found my match in cooking and teamed up with the lovely Lisa Chatham to expand her personal cheffing business into a catering company called Green Heart Foods. Over the course of four years, the company grew from two people to fifty employees and a cafe. With 2 production kitchens and another in the making, helping to build Green Heart Foods was a life changing experience and an honor.

In 2015 I made one of the hardest decisions I've ever made -- to leave what I knew in SF and explore the unknown. I decided to fulfill a lifelong dream of mine; I packed my bags, this time not knowing when I would return. I bought a one way ticket to Peru with no plans other than to see all of the beauty that the world has to offer. I traveled to 8 different countries in one year, collecting friends, stories, spices and culinary techniques from every corner of the world. It was the single most inspiring, eye opening experience of my life, and has shaped me as a person and as a chef.

I've returned to the U.S. to start my next adventure in Colorado. Starting Uprooted is a dream that has been stirring within me for a long time. I couldn’t think of a better place to start it than in the land of the mountains. Besides being a lover of food, I am a huge outdoor enthusiast. I'm enamored with the sport of climbing and anything that gets me into the mountains. The similar mindset to "get after it" made me fall in love with this beautiful state. I have also been so lucky to meet the love of my life here, and now we are continuing to build our dreams together in Boulder. After gaining so much knowledge from all I've seen, I can't wait to share it through my food - and with you!
